The leak started showing up on the 4th of February — a damp patch on the ceiling of the back bedroom that I'd been half-ignoring since December, hoping it was condensation. It wasn't. I messaged proven roofing through WhatsApp on a Tuesday evening and had a reply from Mike by 9am the following morning. He came out that Friday to have a look, gave me a verbal rundown of what was wrong (a few slipped slates and some flashing that had lifted around the chimney stack), and I had a written quote in my inbox by Friday afternoon. The price was fair — I'd had a rough number from someone else and Mike came in a bit below that, which I wasn't expecting. We agreed a start date for the following Tuesday. The lads arrived just after 8am, were on the roof by half eight, and were finished and cleared up by early afternoon. I got a text from Mike when the job was done to say they were leaving and to keep an eye on it after the next rainfall. We had heavy rain that Thursday night and not a drop came through. Solid job, no fuss.
